Frequently Asked Questions
WHAT IS INCLUDED IN YOUR TRADEMARK SERVICES?
All of our trademark packages include a comprehensive trademark search and search report, opinion letter addressing the risks associated with your trademark compared to other existing trademarks, and drafting and filing the trademark application. Our trademark packages also include the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) filing fees required to file an application, currently $250-$350.
WHAT IS THE COST OF A TRADEMARK?
We offer flat-fee trademark packages tailored to your needs. Depending on the nature your trademark, we will recommend the best trademark package for you.
We also offer additional trademark services including responses to substantive and non-substantive office actions. If additional services are needed, we can provide additional assistance at our hourly rate.
HOW LONG IS THE TRADEMARK PROCESS?
Registering a trademark is a long process, and we can typically file your trademark application within two weeks. However, the USPTO trademark process generally takes between 14 to 18 months to register a trademark. This process could take longer depending on whether or not there are any issues with your trademark application.

HOW DO I KNOW IF I NEED A TRADEMARK?
If you are an entrepreneur or business owner, you should protect the brand that you have invested time, money, and other resources to create. An LLC, domain name, or social media handle does not protect your brand. Only a federally registered trademark gives you the exclusive right to use your brand in the industry that you offer goods or services.
WHEN SHOULD I FILE A TRADEMARK?
Ideally, you should consider trademarking your brand as soon as possible. Because trademarking is a lengthy process, it is better to get the process started once you have finalized a business name, design, slogan/phrase, etc. Before investing time and money in branding, website design, packaging, etc., it is highly recommended to perform a comprehensive trademark search to check if there are any conflicts with any existing trademarks. While we cannot guarantee that we will uncover every possible trademark that exists, a comprehensive search will mitigate the risks of registering a trademark that already exists.
CAN I WORK WITH YOU IF I AM LOCATED IN ANOTHER STATE (JURISDICTION)?
We assist trademark clients across the United States as trademarks are governed by federal law. Our managing attorney is licensed in the state of Michigan and is able to assist contract clients located in Michigan for contract review and drafting. Even if you are not located in Michigan, but you have a contract that is governed by Michigan law, we can provide legal advice regarding your contract. However, for contract drafting and other legal matters governed by laws other than Michigan, you should consult with and contact an attorney licensed in your jurisdiction.
